Our Commitment to Youth

Rotary maintains a strong connection to youth and young adults through various scholarships and programs such as Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) and youth service clubs such as Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), as well as offering career development and mentoring programs.  Rotary is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in its programs. Because Rotary members volunteer to administer the programs, costs are kept low for students and their families.

New Generations Avenue of Service

Every year thousands of talented and dedicated young people have an incredible experience in a New Generations program. Through RYE, young people explore new cultures by living with a host family and attending school in a different country. As a RYLA participant, they learn skills that will help them succeed as future community leaders. Nevada Union High School and Seven Hills Middle School students can participate in Interact, Rotary International's service club for young people ages 12-18. They raise funds for local nonprofits, participate in service projects at home and abroad, and practice the tenants of Rotary's Four Way Test

49er Rotary demonstrates respect and concern for youth by:

  • Providing an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders

  • Encouraging leadership of youth by youth

  • Recognizing publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities.
